"Thanks" Dewpool meowed and began to eat the sparrow.

Branchstar nodded. " I think that it should be time for Starkit's apprentice cermony.. we need more apprentices and warriors." Branchstar commented looking at Dewpool.

"Yes that would be great for Starkit and am I really going to be deputy?" Dewpool said.

" Yes." Branchstar said. He padded out onto the ledge where he called Clan meetings. " Clan Meeting!" Branchstar yowled.

Starkit bounded out. Starkit got to be an apprentice! She was jittery with excitement. She went up and stood by Branchstar and waited for the deputy, Dewpool.

(Announce new deputy) Dewpool sat with the clan.

" First, I would like to announce that Dewpool will be BranchClans deputy." Branchstar said.

Starkit cheered for Dewpool.

" And second Starkit, from now on will be known as Starpaw." Branchstar said.

Starpaw grinned. She knew who she was getting as a mentor.

Dewpool smiled and went to stand by Branchstar.

" Dewpool, will you pass all you know onto Starpaw and be her mentor?" Branchstar asked. He smiled at Dewpool and Starpaw.

Starpaw was so happy. She got to have the greatest mentor ever!

"Yes Branchstar I'm honered to mentor Starpaw" Dewpool meowed as she went to touch noses with Starpaw.

Branchstar nodded. He smiled again.

Starpaw licked Dewpool's shoulder restpectfully.

" Clan dismissed!" Branchstar yowled.

"You must be happy Starpaw go get a nest in the apprentise den and I teach you to hunt." Dewpool meowed.

Starpaw nodded happily and bounded toward the apprentice den, after getting some moss off course.

While Starpaw was gone getting a spot in the apprentice den, Branchstar padded over to Dewpool. " You will make a great mentor." Branchstar said.

"Thanks" Dewpool meowed as she wrapped her tail around his.

Branchstar licked Dewpool's ear. Intwining his tail in her, he licked her ear again.

Starpaw padded out from the apprentice den and smiled. He saw Branchstar and Dewpool. He padded toward them slowly smiling.

Branchstar saw Starpaw coming and untwined his tail again.

Dewpool slipped her tail away and walked up to Starpaw "Come on follow me" Dewpool meowed.

Starpaw nodded. " Do I get a toru of the territory?" Starpaw asked eagerly.

Branchstar watched as Dewpool padded away. He turned and padded to the fresh-kill pile, taking a rabbit and starting to eat.

"Yep" Dewpool meowed.

Mountainkit enviously watched her friend. At least her ex-friend. Now she had nothing to do but prowl around like a restless tiger,stuck in a cage at the zoo.

Starpaw padded with Dewpool.

Branchstar padded over to see Mountinkit. " I know, you don't have any more kits to play with. You will be an apprentice soon." Branchstar said, winking.

MountainKit was soothed by BranchStar's words. But what would she do until she would be made an apprentice?

" You are very close to being an apprentice. Mabye if you hunt well for the Clan you could become a apprentice." Branchstar said, again winking. " Would you like to come on a hunting trip?" Branchstar asked the kit.

"Yes!" said an eager Mountainkit."I mean, thank you for the generous offer, BranchStar."she paused, as if thinking before answering BranchStar's question.
She already knew the answer, though."I will join the hunting party."said an anxious Mountainkit, trying to sound like an apprentice.

Branchstar nodded and chuckled to himself when he saw Mountinkit straightn up. He lead the way out of camp toward thicker tree growth. He paused to see it Mountinkit was following.

Mountainkit realized she was being invited. She padded after him,instead of bounding after him like she felt like doing.

Branchstar padded with Mountinkit along side him. " Okay, try to catch a mouse please." Branchstar said, seeing a faint gleam of happyness in Mountinkits eye.
