Shimmertail nodded. " Okay." Shimmertail said and padded away.

Starkit couldn't keep up with Mountinkit and so she padded away boardly. She started rolling around and tumbled into the warrior den. She landed behind Dewpool yowling, a stick had poked her paw and it was bleeding a little, but not much.

Dewpool jumped up and turned to look at the kit "whats wrong?" Dewpool asked.

" A stick.." Starkit murmured.. showing Dewpool her paw.

Dewpool picked up Starkit and walked out of the warriors den and set Starkit down and raced away and came back with cobweb and pressed it on Starkit's paw.

Starkit flinched at the new presure but calmed down after a second. " Are you the medicine cat?" Starkit asked.

No I'm not" Dewpool meowed then she raced off and came back with dock and marigold Dewpool chewed the leaves and spat the pulp on Starkit's paw.

Starkit flinched again but got back to normal. " Oh. Why not?" Starkit asked. " You're good at it." Starkit added.

"I'm not sure" Dewpool whispered.

" Why'd don't you ask Branchstar? I'm sure he'd say yes." Starkit replied, not sure why Dewpool whispered.

Branchstar couldn't sleep, or rest. He just sat in his den, wishing he had a deputy or medicine cat. What would happen if a cat got badly hurt or if Branchstar died, which wouldn't happen soon.

Dewpool padded into Branchstar's den and pressed her fur into his and whispered "I still love you you know" curling up so her fur nesseled in his'.

Starkit watched Dewpool pad away.

Branchstar looked at Dewpool. " I know.. I didn't know why you were staying away from me so much. I didn't know what was wrong." Branchstar murmured.

"I just didn't know how to react" Dewpool mewed.

Branchstar nodded. " So what now?" Branchstar asked. " I don't really know what to do either.." Branchstar added.

"Well you need a deputy" Dewpool mewed.

" Yes. I also need a medicine cat." Branchstar said, agreeing. " And only another moon until Starkit can become an apprentice." Branchstar added. " Would you want to be medicine cat?" Branchstar asked Dewpool.

"I'm not shure Branchstar I would have to give up my love for you." Dewpool meowed.

Branchstar nodded, he had forgotten. " Well, I also need a deputy.." Branchstar said. " Will you want to be a deputy?" Branchstar asked.

"I would be glad to" Dewpool meowed.

Branchstar nodded. " Great." Branchstar said, he was happy, they had needed a deputy. " I was thinking that you could mentor Starkit when she becomes an apprentice. I would mentor Mountinkit." Branchstar said, " Lets wait until that time comes to discuss it." Branchstar added. He licked Dewpool on the ear.

Mountainkit heard this conversation."DewPool's going to be deputy!DewPool's going to be deputy!!!!"she chanted.Then she sang something else."I'm going to be the leader's apprentice!I'm going to be the leader's apprentice!!!"she mewed. She was very excited,for DewPool was one of her favorite warriors. "Hey!"she said."Can't TawnyFur be Medicine cat???"said Mountainkit.She did not really know what all these jobs were.Medicine cats,she thought, help you get those nasty thorns out of your paw.

Branchstar suddenly heard chanting. He left and came back with Mountinkit in his jaws. " What were you doing?" Branchstar asked, setting her down and sitting down by Dewpool.

Tawnypelt was back with some fresh kill. She padded into camp, and dropped a chaffinch and mouse in the pile. She picked up another mouse to take the elder's den. Even though she was a well behaved warrior, she still acted much like an apprentice when it came to loyalty to the clan.

"Yes Mountinkit what are you doing you will send the clan wild." Dewpool meowed sternly.

Branchstar set Mountinkit down and let her scamper off. Branchstar stood up and dissapered for a moment. He came back with a magpie for him and a sparrow for Dewpool. He began eating and nudged the sparrow more toward Dewpool.
